Gluten-Free Travel: Austin, TX

A repeat trip to True Food Kitchen, located in the Seaholm District in downtown Austin, provided the perfect choice for my GF daughter, and me. The former industrial plant is listed on the National Register of Historic places, and retains its original Art Deco-style exterior. The restaurant itself provides plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the architecture.

We both enjoyed the air-fried chicken, and I had a hard time deciding which dipping sauce was best (a choice of TFK special sauce, peri peri ketchup, BBQ, or spicy ranch). The True Crisp’d chicken is advertised as “air-fried, Gluten-free, and 100% seed oil-free”.

My daughter wanted a ‘veggie forward’ lunch, so we enjoyed the Charred Cauliflower made with medjool dates, harissa tahini, dill, mint, and pistachio. Delicioso in any language. Many other items were gluten-free, and clearly marked as such on the menu.

The True Food Kitchen promise is:

  • Organic that matters

  • Healthy for pasture, plate, and planet

  • Future-forward farming

  • Cut the bad, amp up the good

While I appreciate all that, the food is the main selling point for me. Come and enjoy ya’ll!
